APPROVAL OF CONTRACTS WITH THE 6 TOP-RANKED DESIGN/BUILD FIRMS TO PROVIDE DESIGN/BUILD SERVICES FOR MINOR DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS PURSUANT TO NON-EXCLUSIVE CONTINUING CONTRACTS FOR A PERIOD OF 2 YEARS, EXTENDABLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR PERIOD
Description
The scope shall include providing professional design/build services, under the terms of individual non-exclusive two-year contracts, for selected projects. These contracts are extendable, for one (1) additional one-year period, by mutual agreement of the parties. On 2/3/2009 (Item #29), the Board authorized negotiations with the six (6) top-ranked firms. On 2/13/2009, the Executive Director of Construction Services and two (2) members of the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) met with representatives of [1] Jon F. Swift, Inc., [2] Magnum Builders of Sarasota, Inc., [3] McIntyre Elwell & Strammer General Contractors, Inc., [4] P.J. Hayes, Inc. dba Tandem Construction, [5] W.G. Mills, Inc. and [6] Willis A. Smith Construction, Inc. and successfully negotiated individual contracts. These contracts have been approved by the School Board attorney and are available for review at the Construction Services Department. The estimated cost for these services for the entire three-year period is $30,000,000.00. Funds for these services are available through individual project accounts.
Recommendation
That the contracts with the six (6) top-ranked firms to provide Design/Build Services for Minor Design/Construction projects pursuant to individual non-exclusive continuing contracts, for a period of two (2) years, extendable for one (1) additional one-year period be approved as presented.
